Angela Howdershelt,

Administrator, Elementary School Director

Angela has a Master’s degree in Special Education from Liberty University and a BS in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College-Europe, Angela has set out to follow the call God placed on her heart many years ago. Growing up in Clifton Forge, Angela attended Cliftondale Christian School where she graduated valedictorian. She then spent more than 20 years traveling the world as a military wife and raising 4 children, one of whom required special education and an IEP, and the youngest of whom graduated from Covenant Christian Academy in 2024. Angela returned to Clifton Forge in 2008, and having spent years struggling for quality education and equal opportunities for her own children, she began praying for how God might answer that need for families in the Alleghany Highlands. Desiring to bring a Christ-centered, affordable education to its residents and to meet the needs of those students who require additional assistance in the classroom, Angela opened Covenant Christian Academy in August 2018.

Katie joined the Covenant Christian Academy team in 2023 as the lunch lady and then began teaching Science and helping with Math. She truly loves the Lord and helping children both with their academics and walk with the Lord.

David Hanks, School Pastor and High School Director

Pastor David is the pastor of Iron Gate Baptist Church and previously pastored Mulberry Baptist Church, Nathalie, VA and Calvary Baptist Church, Wildwood, GA. From a youth the French language has been a passion for him, he also enjoys art, wood burning, wood carving, knife making, hunting and fishing, playing piano and organ, enjoys working on computers and helps CCA with IT needs. He attended Gateway Christian, Community Christian Academy and graduated from Pulaski County High School in 1999. He is a graduate of Tennessee Temple University (2003), Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (2003), Liberty University Graduate School (2021).
